“The Best of Land and Sea” Dinner Buffet
Garden Café has recently launched “The Best of Land and Sea”, a buffet dinner that encompasses select ingredients from various countries and terrains, all of them procured and cooked with attention by the seasoned culinary team. Seafood lovers will be delighted to find premium catches such as fresh Boston lobsters, Canadian snow crab legs, oysters, tuna belly sashimi, while meat aficionados can taste various prime cuts at the alfresco terrace. The multitude of wonderful food will surely constitute a memorable gustatory journey.
The spectacular buffet makes an immediate first impression through its exquisite appetisers. To begin, two freshly shucked oysters will be served to the table. Their smoothness and oceanic fragrance are accentuated by the accompanying cocktail sauce and lemon. Served in alternating weeks, chilled abalone in huadiao wine, smoked salmon with caviar and pan-fried goose foie gras are also true crowd favorites.
Another highlight of the dinner is the wide range of chilled seafood. From fresh Boston lobsters to Canadian snow crab legs and crab claws, from sea shrimps to mussels, there is no short supply of umami. Those who prefer seafood prepared the Japanese way can indulge in tender and fatty yellow-fin tuna belly sashimi, along with raw slices of salmon, hamachi and squid as well as different types of sushi and California roll.
Reopening by popular demand, the alfresco barbecue station will feature various cuts of meat like Tomahawk pork chop, wagyu chuck, Australian lamb chop, crispy pork belly and chicken drumstick, all deftly grilled a la minute. The dazzling cityscape and soothing evening breeze make for the best seasonings to the tantalising bites.
Equally irresistible are hot dishes inspired by different cuisines. Hidden beneath the golden puff pastry of the beef Wellington is tender, flavoursome fillet steak. Hainanese chicken rice and Italian roast chicken wrapped in prosciutto and herbs showcase the versatility of the poultry. Moving seawards, the salt-crusted salmon exudes the fragrances of many spices after being baked whole. A hardened “case” of rock salt keeping its juice intact. Other recommended marine delicacies include pan-fried sea bass with tomato salsa, Thai steamed fish and typhoon shelter shrimp.
The Asian noodles section has just become even more diverse. The newly added Yunnan rice noodles and Shanghainese noodles can be paired with dan broth, spicy broth or clear chicken broth. Guests can assemble a unique bowl of Asian noodle soup with toppings such as duck blood, pickled Chinese mustard greens, mock sea cucumber and mock abalone.
Beautifully crafted desserts are essential to cap things off. Classic Italian tiramisu and strawberry Romanoff are freshly prepared to ensure perfect smoothness. Caramel milk puffs, pistachio opera cake and strawberry yogurt mousse are served on a weekly rotating basis. Crème brûlée, strawberry mille feuille, black forest cake, green tea tart and Haägen-Dazs ice cream offer a variety of tastes and textures, catering to individuals with different palates.
In terms of beverages, fruit juice, soft drinks and selected beer can be refilled at all times. Guests can also enjoy free-flowing red, white and sparkling wines for an additional $120.
